Name changes on GuideStar can only be performed by requesting a change through the IRS. They can, however, add a new name as a "doing business as (dba)" name if you follow these steps:

A Guidestar Profile example:
Fax letterhead, a website page, advertisements, IRS forms, or a state letter showing the new name to GuideStar at 1-757-229-8912. Include a telephone number or e-mail address where GuideStar can reach you if they have questions.
Once you update your nonprofit report, GuideStar's Customer Service will change your organization's name. If you elect NOT to register or update your nonprofit report, the name change can only be performed by the IRS. This process can take several weeks.
